Chattahoochee Valley Roller Derby
The Muscogee Roller Girls, Columbus, Georgia’s homegrown roller derby team since 2012, is proud to announce a transformative new chapter in the league’s history. Beginning immediately, the team will compete under its new name: Chattahoochee Valley Roller Derby.
This change reflects the organization’s commitment to inclusivity, growth, and representation of the broader region and community it serves. Roller derby has always been about empowerment, teamwork, and belonging. As our membership has grown and diversified, we recognized the need for a name that better represents all of us, athletes, volunteers, fans, and partners across the wider Chattahoochee Valley and beyond. This new identity embraces the entire region and welcomes everyone who wants to be part of the sport.
The updated name shifts focus from gender-specific language to a more inclusive identity, ensuring that skaters of all genders feel reflected and valued. It also highlights the team’s strong ties to the Chattahoochee Valley area, which includes communities in both Georgia and Alabama that support the league’s events, training, and outreach programs.
Along with the new name, Chattahoochee Valley Roller Derby will debut refreshed branding and team visuals during the upcoming season. Fans can expect the same fast-paced gameplay, athleticism, and vibrant community engagement the league is known for.
We may have a new name, but our mission stays the same! We’re here to build a supportive community, inspire people through sport, and bring the excitement of roller derby to the Chattahoochee Valley.
The team invites the public to celebrate this milestone at their first home game where CVRD will take on the Bruising Betties on March 21st at the Harris County Community Center, where new merchandise and branding will be unveiled.
